As far as indoor cycling bikes go, there are two primary competitors in terms of quality, features, and price. The Keiser M3i Indoor Cycle trainer is one such bike that has been out on the market for several years now. It costs right around $1,500 which is about half what you would pay for a Peloton Bike (about $2,400). Many people wonder if it’s worth it to save money by getting the less expensive model or upgrade to get something better?
I decided to take my own spin on this question by reviewing both bikes in detail; I hope you find this review helpful!
Keiser M3I Review
The Peloton Bike actually isn’t all that different than the Keiser M3i. They are both top-notch bikes that give an excellent workout and have the most realistic riding experience possible.
There are a few differences between them, though, so I’ll go ahead and break down each of their pros/cons to help you decide which one is right for you!
Peloton Bike Pros:
Includes Peloton Digital Membership (an online fitness community where users can stream live or on-demand classes) Includes Peloton Tread (a small motorized treadmill that attaches to the Peloton Bike) Has larger flywheel (44lbs vs 40lbs) and longer crank arms (72″ vs 67″) vs the Keiser M3i Adjustable handlebars Can increase/decrease the difficulty on some of their classes with a remote Has more workout programs (11 vs 8)
Peloton Bike Cons:
Won’t work with other apps/devices like Keiser M3i will Only works with iOS devices Doesn’t have a resistance control knob Indoor cycling bikes are expensive in general, but Peloton is twice as much as the Keiser M3i.
Comparing these two bikes is like comparing Apples to Oranges because they’re both great options that offer different benefits. Each bike has its own pros and cons that I’ve detailed above. When it comes down to which one is right for you, it really depends on what kind of features you need most!
Keiser M3I Review
– The Keiser M3i has a 40lbs flywheel that’s about half the weight of Peloton Bike. In my opinion, there’s no need to have a heavier flywheel since it only makes the bike feel cheaper and less realistic. Even though Peloton has a bigger flywheel, you can’t really tell by riding it so I wouldn’t let that be a “make or break” factor for your decision. – Also, the crank arms on the Keiser M3i are about 2 inches shorter than those on the Peloton Bike (67″ vs 72″). Again, this is something you won’t notice at all when riding either bike; they’re both very comfortable to use. – Something else I learned from doing research is that the Keiser M3i doesn’t have a screen on it, so you can’t really track your stats during a class. Some people may not mind this, but if you’re someone who likes to see your RPMs and other info then this might be a turn-off for you.
The Keiser M3i does have 8 different workout programs vs Peloton’s 11 programs.
This isn’t much of an issue because both bikes come with enough pre-programmed classes to keep you entertained for months or even years! – However, another benefit that the Keiser M3i has over the Peloton Bike is that it comes with resistance control knob which allows you to change up the intensity without having to switch to another pre-programmed class. If you like having more control over your workout and don’t mind getting a little sweaty, then this is another factor that might make the Keiser M3i a better choice for you.

– While both bikes are very similar in most aspects, there are some key differences that set them apart from each other which I’ve detailed in this blog post. – In my opinion, if you want a bike with a great resistance control knob then get the Keiser M3i because it’s cheaper than Peloton and it offers the same overall workout experience.
– If you want a more versatile bike with additional features such as a larger screen and load of pre-programmed workouts, then Peloton would be best for you. – It really comes down to what kind of features are most important to you! I hope this comparison helped you make an informed decision about which bike is right for you! Overall, I feel confident saying that both bikes are excellent choices and will provide users with an amazing indoor cycling experience. Each bike has its own pros and cons, but it really just comes down to “what matters most” to you as a consumer.
Both Peloton Bike and Keiser M3I have almost the same dimensions (L: 86″, W: 27″, H: 67″), so either bike could work in pretty much any home gym setting! – The weights of both bikes are also similar, but I’d say that the Peloton Bike is slightly heavier (226 lbs vs 214lbs). – When it comes to price, they’re both pretty expensive. The Keiser M3i ranges between $1600-2000 while the Peloton Bike goes for about double that!
If you want a heavy flywheel and don’t mind shelling out more money then go with the Peloton Bike. If you need a resistance control knob or have an iOS device then choose the Keiser M3i. All in all, these are both amazing bikes so either way you won’t be disappointed!
